First A-List Fashion Designers Collaborate On Catwalk Show In Virtual London London, England (Virtually-Linked) September 30, 2009 - For the first time A-List real world fashions are on the virtual catwalk. Top designer Maria Grachvogel and Virtually-Linked bring her collection to the virtual London catwalk. In 24 hours, virtual creators took designs from Autumn Winter Collections and delivered them to the virtual London catwalk inside Second Life. Four virtual designers took up the challenge: Watcher Castaignede of Avebury, Estelle Parnall of Lost Designs, Nils Tomorrow of Nils Island Store and Lixena Lamourfou's who has the Second Life brand Lixena Marcus picked up the gauntlet. Details as envisioned by the creators of the garments gave a demonstration of proof of concept "using virtual world to showcase and promote". There is no disguising the design brilliance. These designers work with graphics and 3D to generate the clothing that avatars wear in virtual worlds. Time limit constraints were tight as designs like these normally take virtual graphics designers up to a month to produce. They found this opportunity to take inspiration from their real world counterparts and excelled in their creations. The designs will be once again shown for one final time in the ‘Best of …’ event which takes place on Wednesday and specially invited guests and press will get an opportunity to see these creations before they are destroyed forever. Virtual creator ‘Watcher Castaignede’ of Avebury said “It was an exciting challenge to be invited to take part in this opportunity and I was proud to be associated with this project”. Julius Sowu of Virtually-Linked, creators of London in Second Life and VLFW09, said ”We thank all those who have put so much effort into making this possible and special thanks to both Maria Grachvogel and Twenty8Twelve for taking this bold step with us.” This event, now in its third year, was last year sponsored by The Evening Standard through Associated Northcliffe Digital. For this event, as well as having a catwalk show of these design, we have secured an interview with the designer herself by Virtually-Linked’s Gena Dry. This exclusive event incorporates original music from Georg Kajanus of Sailor as well as music and cover versions by Gena Dry, who runs Virtually-Linked’s ‘The Dry Club’ - which doesn’t sell alcohol because it’s virtual. Ultimately this is a proof of concept event as part of Virtually-linked London's goal to shape the future of the vista that is ahead of us in the coming decade with regard the web2 evolution. This is an on-going relationship between designers and Virtually-Linked with more announcements to follow.
