How do you objectively measure the quality of conversation in a forum/community site? Here's a rough idea: Go to the site's main page, and for that page + all pages up to two links deep (use spiders to crawl) count: - the % of words which are in the dictionary (IE, no LOL, etc) - the # of average words per sentence - the # of average letters per word. (Word provides the latter two abilities, which have some name). Then, using this analysis, it is possible to track several websites (digg, reddit, slashdot, etc) over time and to see whether entropy does indeed ensue). This would make a rather interesting graph, I think. - AlexeyMK
