E-mail I received from an NPR listener: I grimaced as I heard the subject of your talking today on NPR. "Here come praises about the Iphone," I thought. I was right. The first thing wrong about the conversation was of course, I immediately heard the phrase "Iphone killer." "Oh, boy," I said to myself. Seriously, what is it with all of you supposed "tech reviewers" and killing? Always, product x has to "kill" product y. They cannot just bring innovative features to the market, oh no, they have to kill another product. Seriously, read this Engadget article please. Things do not always have to kill the most popular thing, the thing that every suburban mom and their mother have. Anyway, getting along in the Iphone praising, you say it is "ugly." Seriously, do you not know that style is subjective? We don't all care what your opinion is on how beautiful a product is. Anyway, I prefer functionality over aesthetics, anyway. You said it looked "masculine." Excuse me, how can a gadget made of metal and wires look masculine? Anyway, even if it does, are you not a man? Or do you prefer the feminine feel of the Iphone? Then you got along to saying that it was heavy. Oh, wow, like 30 grams of difference. It's not like your going to be dropping something that is not even half a pound. It's made out of metal, anyway, instead of the Iphone, which is made out of plastic. Quality, my friend. Anyway, moving on, you said that "you were much faster on the unexisting Iphone keyboard." Probably because you have been using that thing for over 2 years, whereas the Droid has not even been out a week. The Droid has a virtual keyboard too! You actually get options! Apple doesn't make your choice for you! "Oh no! What am I going to do? I have a choice!" Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that that review was riddled with holes, and that I will not take your opinion into consideration any more, if I ever even did. PS- I am not an iPhone hater, I thought it was a very intuitive product in 2007, but now, there are simply better phones out. And number of apps does not show the quality of the phone.
